Christmas Decor 2019

I have had the same artificial tree for 6 years. The last two years I’ve had to add lights throughout because things started to die. SO- this year, I started look for a new tree that would be PERFECT for years to come. As I was grocery shopping at Walmart, I thought I’d look through there trees…. and BINGO! I found this beauty and only $79!

I haven’t even taken our old decor down from the attic and I think I may just stick to this! While at Walmart, I bought two rolls of ribbon and placed them throughout the tree. I have 8 Rae Dunn ornaments that I placed on the upper half of the tree (thanks, toddlers!) and I like the simplicity of it all! Best, part- super cheap… and not breakable!

I’ll show the super easy way that I made the bow below:

  1. Cut to your desired length (depending how long you want the tail) put one on top of the other and fold in half.

  2. Pinch about 3-4 in down leaving plenty of “tail”

  3. Use a pipe cleaner to hold your pinch or (like I did) use the Christmas tree itself to hold your ribbon and create the pinch.

  4. Once on the tree, separate your two layers and “fluff” to desired look.

I plan on adding some scrap burlap I have for the tree skirt. The other areas I focused on were my entry way and dining room buffet. I added some small pieces along with my Rae Dunn pieces to bring in a little Christmas but still tried to keep the neutral decor look I love.

Using the same ribbon, I tied them onto my canisters. Added the Hobby Lobby garland with the Merry Christmas tag ($5) and some greenery I had from last year in my pitcher. Also found the “Merry” towel at Target for less than $4.

For the entry way, I replaced my two signs with Christmas themed signs from Hobby Lobby and added the two buffalo plaid trees to incorporate the Christmas Tree decor.

Lastly, the entry way table. I grabbed the two small trees from Hobby Lobby for $5ish and plan on letting the boys each have one to decorate with their favorite ornaments. I added a few red pieces for some “pop” and brought out my favorite Holiday Rae Dunn. I’m not 100% satisfied with this project quite yet, but I will figure play around with it until I like it a little more. This area is next on my project list so we will see….

I will link the products I mentioned below and hope that you all are having a great start to the best time of the year! I would love to hear how you’re decorating your home!
